Land management plans for more than 130 acres of green space in Newtown are being developed.
The plans will help enhance the existing green spaces managed by Open Newtown. The not-for-profit group manages parkland on behalf of the town and Powys County Council as part of a 99 year lease.
A report to the town council states: "We’re using our land management plan to secure funding for access and wildlife habitat improvements, along with working alongside partner organisations to further enhance our green spaces for all.
"This document has recently been shared with Tir Coed, who plan to deliver a tree maintenance training programme on our green spaces over the winter and are seeking to enhance some of the park lands that we manage, as per our land management plan.
"We’re hosting a new ‘introduction to coppicing’ training programme in partnership with Tir Coed, with the hope of expanding the course into January 2025."
