Details on road closures and arrangements for the Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday commemorations in Newtown have been released.

Remembrance Sunday takes place on 10th November, with the parade meeting outside the Monty Club at 10.35am before heading off at 10.45am and arriving at the war memorial at Clifton Terrace for the civic service and ceremony at 10.55am.

The parade will then head off at 11.30am into New Road, Church Street, and Back Lane, into Broad Street.

Temporary road closures will occur throughout the period, including Shortbridge Street and New Road during the service.

On Monday, 1 November, Armistice Day will be commemorated with a service at the War Memorial. People will gather at 10.45am before a service begins at 10.55am and two minutes of silence at 11am.

Pupils from local primary schools will call out the names of 48 people who died during the world wars.

The service will end at 11.20am.
