Kicking Off Christmas all set to be a party bonanza

Newtown's annual Kicking Off Christmas event will take place at the end of the month, with organisers promising a host of entertainment.

In addition to the main festive celebrations, there'll be a 5k Santa run and walk.

The town council is organising the event on Saturday, 30th November with businesses throughout the town centre being encouraged to participate.

A report to the council's Economy and Environment Committee on Monday has confirmed arrangements, including a firework display, donkeys, inflatable Santa, window shop competitions, music and entertainment on a main stage, stalls, and more.

High Street will be closed from 9am on the day to allow set up, including a children's playground and marquee.
