Cast prepares for musical feast

One of Dicken's timeless classics is coming to Newtown next month.

Oliver! The Musical is set to enchant audiences at the Hafren Theatre  when Newtown Musical Theatre Company (NMTC) once again take to the stage. 
 
Performances will take place on October 10th, 11th, and 12th at 7.30pm, with a special matinee on Saturday, October 12th at 2.30pm featuring British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation.
 
Based on Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist, this musical brings to life the story of the orphaned boy who dares to ask for more. With unforgettable songs like “Consider Yourself,” “Food, Glorious Food,” and “Where Is Love?”, audiences of all ages will be transported to the streets of Victorian London.
 
"With a cast of both seasoned NMTC performers and some making their stage debuts for the first time, Oliver. The Musical promises to be excellent entertainment for all the family. Everyone involved with the production have worked tirelessly over the last few months ensuring that everything will be ‘Alright on the Night’," said Jonathan Davies of the theatre company.
 
The cast will be joined on stage by pupils from 4 different local primary schools from Newtown who will each play the ‘Workhouse Children for one performance. These schools include, Treowen Primary School (performing on Thursday 10th October), Ysgol Calon Y Dderwen (Friday 11th October), Penygloddfa C.P. School (Saturday 12th October – 2.30pm) and finally Ysgol Dafydd Llywd (Saturday 12th October – 7.30pm). NMTC would like to thank each school for their hard work and dedication to this show.
 
He added: "This production is brought to life by the excellent directing team of Les Skilton, Sarah Astley-Davies, and Dawn Jones, collectively known as LSD Productions. Their combined expertise and vision promise this to be a truly memorable experience."
