A new recycling vehicle which will in the area has been shown to pupils at two of Newtown's primary schools as part of a campaign to get more people recycling from an early age.
Pupils from Ladywell Green Nursery and Infants School and Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd in Newtown were given the opportunity to see the new vehicle up close, examine the different compartments and see for themselves how it works.
The children were also able to get inside the cab of the vehicle and see all the buttons and display screens which were explained and demonstrated to them.
Councillor Barry Thomas, Leader and Cabinet Member for Waste Management said: “The children were very keen to see the vehicle in operation and to ask questions that they had. It is important that we engage with children to ensure that future generations recycle as much of their waste as possible.
“The roadshow was very well attended with around 70 pupils in total, the teachers were provided with recycling leaflets which will help them with recycling lessons and each child was given a reusable waste freebie.”
