The Cambrian Railway line suffered another safety scare yesterday after services were suspended due to a road vehicle striking a bridge.
The incident happened near Caersws, forcing morning rail services to be stopped, but the incident was not far from the tragic fatal train collision that shocked the area just three weeks ago.
A Transport for Wales spokesperson confirmed to us that “a road vehicle collided with a bridge between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth”.
However, she added that “this has been cleared now and services are no longer affected by this problem”.
An investigation into last month’s tragedy near Talerddig that killed one man is ongoing, with early indications that a failed breaking system was the cause.
