Painting and decorating students from Coleg Powys have been putting their training into practice, helping do up a community hall in Newtown.
The students have been busy renovating and decorating the North Side Community Hall, on Canal Road, Newtown.
The hall, which is used by local community groups such as playgroups and other societies, and as a venue for learning opportunities, was given a face-lift as the students spent two full days working on bringing the hall, kitchen and entrance hall back to life.
Dave Rimmer, Painting and Decorating Lecturer said: “The students enjoyed the challenge of completing a real life job and delivered a quality finish. They (the hall) provided the materials and we provided the labour."
The students had plenty of fun and worked hard on the project, contributing to the local community while also gaining the opportunity to work in a real environment.
The work was organised with Monica Woosnam at the community hall, who sent a letter of thanks to the students. Dave Rimmer added: “The committee was very happy with all the work and the professional way in which all the students went about it."
