Family raises £2,500 for Hope House

A local family has raised more than £2,500 for Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith, children's charities that supported them, through a community party held in memory of their late son, Ronnie.

Now in its third year, the event took place at Seasons Café at Caersws, near Newtown, and featured a full day and evening of family fun and entertainment.

"Despite the occasional showers, spirits remained high as attendees celebrated Ronnie's life with activities including funfair rides, exotic animals, numerous stalls, dancing, an ABBA tribute band, a choir, and live music," said Alice Jones, who organised the event alongside her family.

She expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed, from local businesses to the many visitors who attended. "We’d like to thank everyone involved for making the day exactly what we imagined. Special thanks to our sponsors, especially G Owens for their trailers and William Plant Hire for the generator, as well as all the stallholders, entertainers, our family, and Seasons Café for their support. We couldn't have done it without every individual who helped. Thank you to everyone for helping us celebrate our beautiful boy, Ronnie’s 4th birthday."

The event held particular significance for Alice and Lewis Jones, along with their children Dougie, aged two and a half, and Mina, aged 18 months, as they marked what would have been Ronnie’s fourth birthday.

Ronnie, who was born with complex needs, received care at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices until he passed away at 15 months old in November 2021.

Fundraiser Bekki Fardoe also praised the Jones family for their dedication in organising the event.

"Thank you to Alice and Lewis for all their hard work putting on the third Party at Ronnie Street. Rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, and a fabulous time was had by all. Altogether, their fun days have already raised more than £22,000 to support children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Thank you so much to the Raise4Ron team," she said.

The family plans to continue their annual event in memory of Ronnie, ensuring that his legacy lives on by helping other children and families in need.
