Clubs secure over £125k to invest in facilities

Welshpool Town Football Club have been awarded over £63,000 towards a huge project that is helping to transform the facilities available for players of all ages in the town.

The UK Government’s Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme is delivering funding to make essential facility improvements, so that communities have high-quality pitches to play on.

The Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme is investing £98 million in 2025/26 to support facilities across the whole of the UK, with four Montgomeryshire clubs cashing in.

Welshpool Town have developed new playing pitches named after former club legend Wayne Evans, with the grant going towards an overall £83,000 project to upgrade the playing surfaces as well as other on-site facilities.

Llanfair United (£22,203) - pictured, Dyffryn Banw (£25,000) and Machynlleth (£24,100) will also receive funding towards projects that will upgrade their facilities and playing surfaces.
