Newtown rail users can expect a day of disruption on our local line again today after it was confirmed that trains will only run every two hours due to a lack of working stock.
Transport for Wales has issued its revised timetable for the day due to more trains than usual requiring repairs with the problem exacerbated by the weather over the past week leading to several trains being damaged by fallen trees.
“Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time, there will be multiple cancellations throughout the day between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth. We advise customers to travel on the next available service,” a Transport for Wales spokesperson said last night.
Only a handful of the routes have been replaced by buses, so the advice is to check that your train is running before arriving at the station.
You can do this using the Transport for Wales Live Map or plan your journey.
“We have organised buses to run between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost.”
