Newtown osteoporosis group to host talk on living independently at home

20/10/2026 @ 11:54

People in Newtown are being invited to a free talk organised by the local osteoporosis group about the help available to remain safe and independent in their own homes.

The Newtown Osteoporosis Society group will host the event at Newtown Methodist Church in Back Lane on Friday, 23 October, at 2pm.

Entitled Improving Homes, Changing Lives, the talk will be given by Debbie Brooks, who will explain how Care & Repair in Powys can help people live well at home.

The session will focus on the support available to residents who may need help with their homes, particularly older people and those with health or mobility difficulties.

The subject is particularly relevant to people living with osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures, making safety around the home an important consideration.

Information and pamphlets about osteoporosis will also be available.

The event is open to everyone, not just those affected by osteoporosis, and admission is free. Light refreshments will be provided.

Newtown Methodist Church is opposite Back Lane car park and the bus station, at SY16 2NH.
