Dyfed-Powys Police to knock on every door over next three years

09/07/2026 @ 10:24

Residents can expect a knock on the door from Dyfed-Powys Police, but if you’ve done nothing wrong don’t panic!

The force has launched Operation Connect, their Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Team (NPPT) community initiative to proactively visit and connect with every home across the force area.

Operation Connect is phase two of the team’s plan to effectively increase communications and listen to communities at a local level, following the launch of their two-way messaging system ‘Dyfed-Powys Connects’ in September 2025, and has a target of knocking on all 257,416 residential property doors across the force area within the next three years.

Chief Inspector Dominic Jones said: “It is vital that we make every effort to connect with those who live and work in our communities, as our public deserves to know their local police teams and feel a genuine sense of trust and confidence in Dyfed-Powys Police.

“I know how much our Neighbourhood Policing Teams care about their areas, and we are undertaking this work because we truly care about the communities we serve.”

This force said that the operation has been created with the public at its core by making in-person visits and knocking on doors to make “valuable connections”, ensuring that NPPTs will be their most visible resource across the force.

To ensure further targeted activity in tackling local concerns, during their visits PCSOs will assist residents in completing priority surveys. These surveys provide an opportunity to gather residents’ thoughts and feelings about local issues, providing valuable measurable data required by the NPCC to maintain community confidence and solve problems alongside partners.

They say it will build stronger relationships with communities by actively listening to local issues and concerns, addressing them through targeted policing, and sharing progress transparently. This approach, they say, enhances public trust and confidence on a more personal level than ever before.

Ch Insp Jones added: “By reporting back on our progress through ‘You Said, We Did,’ we will continue to build, solve problems, and maintain lasting relationships with the communities we serve.”

Facts and figures:

  • There are 257,416 residential properties in the Dyfed-Powys Police area that are currently active on our Local Authorities council tax systems.
  • There are 189 officers/staff deployed in the neighbourhood teams. This is split across 131 PCSOs and 58 PCs.
  • Officers/staff would have to visit 1,362 properties each to visit the whole force. This would equate to approximately six properties a day per officer/staff member over a 12-month period.
