The Welsh Blood Service is urging people in Newtown to book an appointment to donate blood at upcoming sessions in the town later this month.
Donor sessions will be held at Hope Church in Newtown on March 23, 24 and 25, with appointments available across the three days.
The service says that in under an hour, a single donation can save up to three lives and is calling on local residents to step forward, particularly as stocks can fluctuate in the run up to busy periods.
A spokesperson said: “We have a few sessions coming up soon at Hope Church, and we’re hoping the community can help us spread the word and encourage more people to book an appointment to donate.
“In under one hour, you could save up to three lives by giving blood. Please make an appointment today.”
Almost everyone will know someone who has needed blood, whether for surgery, cancer treatment, childbirth or after an accident. Donations are separated into red cells, platelets and plasma, meaning each donation can support multiple patients.
Appointments must be booked in advance. Residents can secure a slot for the Newtown sessions by visiting: https://wbs.wales/MyNewtown
New donors are welcome, and regular donors are being encouraged to check when they are next eligible to give.
