Newtown High School has announced the appointment of Mrs Havard as its new headteacher.
Mrs Havard has already been a familiar and respected figure within the school, having successfully led one of the campuses as acting headteacher. Her formal appointment to oversee the whole school marks the next step in a period of change and consolidation for Newtown High School.
The governing body said Mrs Havard’s leadership as Acting Head had played an important role in driving progress across the school and creating a positive learning environment for pupils and staff alike. Her experience and understanding of the school community were key factors in the decision.
Speaking about her appointment, Mrs Havard said she was proud to take on the role and excited about the future direction of the school.
“I am honoured to take on the position of Headteacher for both campuses. This is an exciting new chapter for our school, and I look forward to working with staff, students and families to build on our successes and continue moving the school forward. Together, we will ensure that every student thrives and reaches their full potential,” she said.
The appointment comes at a time when Newtown High School is focused on building stability and maintaining momentum following recent improvements. Many pupils from Newtown and the surrounding area attend the school, and leaders have emphasised the importance of strong links with families and the wider community.
