New vandalism has been reported at the Back Lane men’s toilets, where a drain was deliberately broken, according to a report to Newtown Town Council’s Services Committee.
The Operations Team said the damage “was deliberately broken”, but staff were able to carry out a repair within a couple of hours, preventing the issue from escalating and avoiding the need for contractors.
The incident adds to a pattern of vandalism previously reported at the Back Lane facilities, as well as at the Gravel car park toilets, both of which have experienced damage on several occasions in recent years.
The council report did not provide further detail on the latest incident or whether additional measures will be considered, but the matter is expected to be noted during the committee’s discussions next week.
