Powys Teaching Health Board is inviting Newtown residents to have their say on the future of local health services at a public drop in event being held in the town early next month.
The session, part of the board’s county wide Better Together programme, will take place at Hafan Yr Afon on Tuesday, 2 December, from 3pm to 6pm. It is one of 13 events being held across Powys as the health board seeks views from local communities on how services should develop over the next two decades.
The Better Together programme aims to gather feedback at a time when health services across Powys are facing increasing demand, an ageing population, waiting list pressures and ongoing challenges linked to the COVID pandemic.
Adrian Osborne, Deputy Director at Powys Teaching Health Board, said the conversations with communities would help shape long term planning. He said the county had seen significant change in recent years and that future services needed to reflect the needs of towns such as Newtown.
Residents attending the Newtown event will be able to speak with members of the health board’s Engagement Team and find out more about the work being carried out on physical and mental health community services for adults, temporary ward and Minor Injury Unit changes, and future plans for women and children’s services, planned care and diagnostics.
Information will also be available on wider programmes including the SilverCloud online mental health service and the Improving the Cancer Journey initiative.
Alongside the Newtown session, further local drop ins will take place in Welshpool, Llanfair Caereinion, Machynlleth, Llanfyllin and Llanidloes between December and February.
