Newtown Library has been designated a "warm space" for residents who need somewhere to stave off the cold weather.
The library is one of 20 locations in Powys for residents to go to if they want somewhere warm and to stay connected with their community.
Powys County Council has offered £1,000 grants to organisations offering warm spaces to the public during the winter months.
A directory highlights where the warm spaces are. It can be found here: https://en.powys.gov.uk/powyswarmspaces?view=list
Any community group or organisation that is interested in joining the network can find out more and submit their details on the council's website: https://en.powys.gov.uk/creatingwarmspaces
“These warm spaces can be vital for people struggling to heat their homes or just want a bit of company,” said Councillor Matthew Dorrance, Powys County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys.
“Please make use of them, if you can, and if you could add more suitable locations to our list, get in touch and consider applying for a grant.”
