Dai calls it a day after 44 years

One of the longest serving fire fighters in Wales has announced he will be calling it a day.

Llanfair Caereinion Fire Station confirmed last night that Watch Manager, Dai Gwalchmai, has decided to retire after an incredible 44 years of continuous service.

At this week’s drill night, it was also a case of ‘in with the new’ with a full attendance of crew welcoming the newest recruit, Firefighter Rhys Pryce, who has just completed his initial course.
