Former bank could become apartments

The first floor of the former Barclays Bank in Newtown could soon be converted into residential flats.

An application has been made for the work that could see seven one bedroom flats converted on the ground floor at The Cross.

The bank closed its doors in 2022.

The ground floor was the former public counter area of the bank and offices were located on the first floor. It is understood the remainder of the building already includes flats other than thr ground floor.

The application has been made by Russel Bradley and will go before the next Powys County Council planning meeting.

Newtown Town Council members will consider the application at a meeting of the Economy and Environment Committee on Monday night. The can provide their opinion on the planning application for the the county council planning committee.
