Heavy rain heading to Newtown

15/07/2024 @ 09:24

The Newtown area is set for another 24-hour soaking from lunch time today, after the Met Office issued another yellow weather warning.

Flooding and some disruption can be expected when the heavens are expected to open across Mid Wales from around 12.30pm, and, according to the Met Office interactive weather map, we can expect the rain showers to continue through the night and into lunch time tomorrow.

But some brighter weather is following the storm with a pleasant afternoon expected on Tuesday.

The yellow weather warning is in place until the end of today.

What the Met Office forecasts for the Welshpool area.

Today (Monday):

Starting bright but heavy rain edging northwards through today, perhaps giving some flooding in places. The risk of thundery downpours in places, especially in the north by early evening. Generally feeling cooler than yesterday. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

A wet evening for many with some heavy rain, and perhaps thunderstorms in places. Further showers or longer periods of rain overnight, generally turning less heavy. Breezy in coastal areas. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

Largely cloudy through the morning with a mixture of bright intervals and showers. Drier by the afternoon with some sunny spells and just isolated showers. Staying rather breezy but warmer. Maximum temperature 20 °C.
