Newtown's youth start to have thier voices heard

Young people in Newtown will start to have their voices heard by town councillors.

Last month two young people were selected as youth representatives on the council. Last night (Thursday) members of the Strategy and Corporate Projects Committee were told the two new members had undertaken a preliminary welcome meeting with council officers during the day.

Council Officer, Sorelle White, confirmed Courtney Fitch and Bryn Steer, two local young people, would now represent young people.

While they cannot vote formally on council matters, they are able to provide views and comments and will work with Cllr Tracey Owen and others to raise issues with councillors.
