Newtown community halls are under the microscope again

23/02/2024 @ 12:44

Some of Newtown community halls could close unless residents take an active role in defining their future.

That's the warning from Newtown Town Council who want residents in areas in Garth Owen, Maesyrhandir, Maesydail, and Llanllawchaiarn to take part in a survey about their future.

It comes after town councillors discussed the estimated £50,000 to £80,000 renovation costs that Northside Recreation Hall might need.

"Are you passionate about building a stronger, more connected community? Then we need your voice," said a statement.

"Community halls serve as vital hubs where people come together to socialise, learn, and access essential services. They are the heartbeats of thriving communities, fostering a sense of belonging and community pride.

"By participating in our survey, you can help us understand the level of need and interest in having a dedicated space for community activities. Your feedback will guide our efforts in shaping the future of our community."

The statement added: "Taking part in the survey is easy and only takes a few minutes of your time. Your input could make a significant difference in determining the next steps for this important project."
