Main road near Newtown to close next week

31/10/2025 @ 12:28

Drivers are being warned of overnight closures on the A483 near Newtown next week as essential resurfacing work takes place.

The North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency (NMWTRA) said the work will take place between 8pm and 6am from Tuesday-Saturday, 8 November 2025.

The closure will affect a section of the road approximately 850 metres north of the Robert Owen Roundabout near Penarth Vineyard. During the overnight works, a signed diversion route will be in place.

The agency said the closure is required to allow road surfacing work to be carried out safely.

A temporary traffic order has been issued to allow for the works and to restrict traffic along the affected section.

Although the order covers a wider stretch of the A483 between Sarn-y-bryn Caled and the Robert Owen Roundabout, NMWTRA said only specific sections would be closed as needed and full closures along the entire route are not expected.

Daytime traffic will not be affected, and the road will reopen each morning at 6am.

Motorists are being advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow diversion signage in place during the closures.
