More people with mobility issues will soon be able to reach some of Newtown's green areas.
Open Newtown, which manages 130 acres of parkland in the town on behalf of the town council and Powys County Council, has received funding to make improvements to areas of biodiversity in areas such as Dolerw Park and Trehafren Fields.
In a report to Newtown Town Council's Services Committee, the not for profit group said: "A new project has been launched to deliver improved access for people with low mobility, providing all weather access to areas of our green spaces through free draining pathways, along with new benches and wildlife information panels.
Works have commenced and we’ve received substantial positive person
direct and through our contractors.Works have commenced in the Trehafren Fields area, providing almost half a mile of accessibility track, for those of low mobility and walkers in general, providing an all year round access track free of mud."
