New Newtown 'brand' not far from being launched

Town councillors have been told a new Newtown "brand" will be launched soon as part of plans to attract more shoppers, visitors and businesses.

Newtown Town Council has been working with consultants for over two years on a strategy to develop the brand to help revive the town and provide a clearer identity.

At last night's Economy and Environment Committee, councillors were told the brand would be launched in the next few months.

It comes as research and ideas for the project have been held behind closed doors from the public, although engagement events and research have involved a wide range of stakeholders, including residents.

The original Cardiff-based consultants were due to come back with ideas in April 2022.

An officer told the committee that the project was nearing completion.
