Assault victim is in a stable conditon

A 22-year-old man has been arrested following a serious assault in Broad Street, Newtown, that has left another man in hospital a stable condition.

Dyfed Powys Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident near to the Spar store to contact them. It happened at around 1.50am on Sunday.

"One man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition," said a police statement.

"A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail pending further police enquiries."
