Preparations are underway for Newtown Musical Theatre Company's latest show, three years after their last performance.

The pandemic prevented the company from running shows and now a cast is rehearsing for Shrek the musical, due to be performed at The Hafren in November.
Based on the popular film, the show tells the story of grumpy ogre Shrek and his friend, a talking Donkey, who go on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona and deliver her to the evil Lord Farquaad. A fun and funny twist on all the classic fairy tales, the show will make you a ‘believer’ in happily ever afters!
NMTC regular Gareth McMurdo will be taking on the title role of Shrek. He will be joined on stage by Abby Brunt as Princess Fiona, Rob Jones as Donkey and Craig Harris as Lord Farquaad. They will be supported by a large cast featuring a number of returning NMTC members as well as some new faces.
Gareth Woodhouse will be making debut as a Director for NMTC, having previously directed several plays for Newtown Amateur Dramatic Society.
He is joined by NMTC regulars, Musical Director Sarah Astley-Davies and Choreographer Dawn Jones.
The show will be performed at the Hafren, Newtown from the 10th – 12th November at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday the 12th. There will also be a BSL Signer at the matinee performance.
Tickets are now on sale and are selling well, particularly for the Saturday Matinee. They are available online on the Hafren’s website, www.hafren.co.uk or by phoning the Box Office on 01686 948100.
