Newtown Male Voice Choir to sing in aid of Testicular Cancer at a local supermarket this weekend.
On Sunday (24th April), the choir will be singing in Morrisons, Newtown, as part of Testicular Care Awareness Month.
The event has been organised by Jenny Coppell, Morrisons Newtown Community Champion. The choir will be singing from 11am and buckets will be available to collect any donations to this great cause.
"There will also be an opportunity to buy purple cancer symbol broaches made by Paula Roberts and the Newtown Knit and Knatter group. All proceeds from sales of these items will be added to the collection," said Jonathan Davies of the choir.
Testicular Cancer is the most common cancer in males aged between 15 and 34. 1 man is diagnosed with it every hour, and 1 man dies from it every day. If detected early, 99% of men diagnosed with Testicular Cancer will survive.
Mr Davies added: "The choir is pleased to be able to support this excellent cause, and after two years of Covid restrictions, is pleased to be able to perform in Newtown once again."
Jenny, Morrisons Community champion said “To have men represent the wider community and highlight the stigma around testicular cancer will promote others to talk, inform and each other through the challenges they may face, raising awareness of this hidden killer and encouraging men to get medical advice sooner rather than later."
She added: “We are so grateful to Newtown Male Voice Choir for being here at Morrisons. Newtown Knit and Knatter started the fund raising at 23 Social, Newtown with a Zumbathon earlier this month and they have already raised over £1000, so we are hoping to add to this amount with this event”.
