The Newtown bypass has reduced traffic and road accidents in the town, but it's not known what economic impact it's had.
The Mayor of Newtown, Cllr Richard Williams, will report to councillors tonight (Monday) on a meeting he had with the Welsh Government and contractors to discuss the effects of the bypass since it opened in 2019.
His report said: "The data that they shared with us is that the bypass is having the intended effect in terms of reduction in road traffic collisions.
"Whilst we were unable to share official figures on economic output since the opening of the Bypass in 2019, we were able to share some anecdotal comments, which I feel has beneficial in ‘unlocking’ Newtown from the grip of traffic."
