Carpenter & Paterson Ltd was established in the UK in 1956 and have developed into one of the World’s largest manufacturers of Pipe Suspension Equipment with manufacturing facilities in the UK, Thailand and India.

We are currently looking to recruit a Health & Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager based at our Welshpool manufacturing facility, who will play a vital role in maintaining the culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.

This position offers a competitive reward package along with the opportunity to be either a full-time or part-time role for the successful candidate.

The key responsibilities of the role will include:

Understanding the HSE requirements of a metal engineering and manufacturing company and tailoring systems to maximise stakeholder safety and minimise environmental impact.

Awareness of legislative and regulatory changes and updates and evaluating their impact on company processes.

Maintenance of our ISO 45001 OHAS and ISO 14001 Environmental management systems, including regular auditing and recertification.

Development and implementation of HSE procedures, processes and assessments to ensure compliance management.

Assisting the Senior Management Team in the development of policy, objectives and goals and reporting on measured performance (KPI’s) to ensure continual improvement throughout the business.

Safety Positive, near miss and accident investigation leading to development of pro-active and reactive measures.

Co-ordinating safety training programmes and initiatives to ensure employee engagement in safety practices.

Development of communication and management systems to ensure all stakeholders are included in HSE developments, to maximise safety and environmental awareness.

System performance auditing and reporting to ensure HSE compliance and development.

Identifying and engaging with external bodies to ensure systems compliance.

The successful applicant will:

Possess a NEBOSH general certificate, or other suitable equivalent.

Have experience in HSE management with a thorough understanding of HSE legislation and regulations.

Possess effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive change through effective engagement.

Have a high level of positive energy and enthusiasm for the role.

Be able to build trust and develop positive working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
