Bike ride will raise cash for Firefighters Charity

Firefighters from Newtown are preparing to take on a 750-mile motorcycle challenge across Mid and West Wales in aid of a national charity.

The crew from Newtown Fire Station will attempt to visit all 58 stations in the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service area within just 48 hours this July.

The riders will travel the length and breadth of the service area over a single weekend, facing long hours on the road and potentially difficult weather conditions as they aim to complete the route.

The challenge has been organised to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports both serving and retired firefighters and their families.

The charity provides a range of services including physical rehabilitation, mental health support and financial assistance, helping those affected by injury, illness or trauma.

Organisers say the ride is as much about showing solidarity within the fire service as it is about fundraising, with crews stopping at each station along the route.

The Newtown team is encouraging support from across the community, with donations being collected through an online fundraising page.

Riders will follow planned safety measures throughout the challenge, including regular breaks, as they aim to complete the journey within the 48-hour target.
