A public consultation has opened on proposals for a new business park and advanced manufacturing centre on the edge of Newtown.
Powys County Council is progressing plans for the 4.75 hectare CymruTech Park site, located to the north of Llanidloes Road, with Asbri Planning leading the consultation process ahead of a hybrid planning application.
The development could include an advanced manufacturing centre, business units and a green skills academy. The council is expected to seek full planning permission for an access road, the first phase of units and the academy, alongside outline approval for further phases of development.
Residents and businesses are being invited to review the plans and submit feedback before a formal planning application is lodged.
Copies of the proposed application, plans and supporting documents are available online at:

For those without internet access, documents can be viewed at Newtown Library on Park Lane during normal opening hours.
A public engagement event will also take place at The Hafren, Llanidloes Road, on Thursday 23 April between 2pm and 6pm.
Comments on the proposals must be submitted to Asbri Planning by Friday 15 May 2026, either by email at mail@asbriplanning.co.uk or by post.
Daniel Burgess, Powys County Council’s Head of Economy and Climate, said the consultation was an opportunity for people to shape the plans at an early stage.
“This is a chance to have your say on the plans we are developing, with partners, for the technology park we want to build next to Newtown College,” he said.
“There will also be further opportunities to comment when the hybrid planning application and any subsequent planning applications are submitted.
“Views expressed now, will not prevent further comments being made at a later date but are likely to be available for public review.”
The project is being developed as part of the Mid Wales Growth Deal, with an outline business case due to be considered by the Growing Mid Wales Board in July.
