Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service will host a Female Experience Day at Newtown Fire Station on Monday, offering women the opportunity to learn more about careers in the fire service.
The event will take place from 10am-1pm, and is designed to provide insight into the role of a modern firefighter and the wider work carried out across local communities.
The three-hour session will include practical and informative elements, giving attendees the chance to try on firefighting kit, explore equipment and personal protective gear, and learn more about the recruitment process and fitness requirements.
Information will also be provided on career pathways within the service, alongside an overview of the day-to-day responsibilities firefighters undertake.
The initiative forms part of the service’s wider work to encourage more women to consider a career in firefighting and to better understand the opportunities available.
Places must be booked in advance.
