Vandals have targeted a new hedge planted at one of Newtown's green spaces to tackle fly-tipping.
Open Newtown, which manages the land near the Trehafren housing estate, revealed the damage.
It said in a statement: "Extremely sad to learn of vandalism to our new hedge today, laid alongside Trehafren Housing Estate, to deter fly tipping and make the woodland area safer for young people to play within.
"The culprits are aged 10/11 and left on scooters. The damage happened around 4pm today (16 March).
The statement added: "We don't want anyone to get into trouble, but if parents are aware of who carried out the vandalism then please talk to your children, as we're trying to make the area safer for them."
The organisation was due to go back to the site today to repair the damage.
