A planning application has been submitted to redevelop the Steam Mill nightclub at The Regent Centre on Broad Street in Newtown.
The proposal follows the recent announcement of its closure this month. It does not affect the cinema.
The new application, by Chris Greatorex, seeks permission to convert the first and second floors of the building into a gym. Plans also include reconfiguring external fences and shelters within the Regent Centre site.
The application will be considered by Newtown Town Council next month as part of the statutory consultation process. Town councillors can comment before the application is referred to Powys County Council planners for a decision.
The Regent Centre included the nightclub as well as The Regent Cinema which is unaffected by the plans.
A decision on the planning application will be made by Powys County Council following the consultation period.
