Celebration of Newtown Awards launched

Residents across Newtown and the surrounding area are being invited to put forward nominations for the Celebration of Newtown Awards 2026, which recognise the people, groups and organisations who make a real difference in the local community.

Organised by Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, the awards celebrate outstanding contributions made over the past year. The 2026 awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, 26 March 2026, bringing together nominees, winners and members of the community to recognise local achievement.

A wide range of categories are open this year, covering volunteering, young people, local businesses, sport, the creative arts and environmental action. These include Volunteer of the Year, Young Person or Youth Group of the Year for those aged 19 or under, several Local Business of the Year awards across different sectors, a Climate and Sustainability Award, a Sports Award and a Creative Arts Contribution Award.

Anyone can make a nomination, whether for an individual, group or organisation. Nominations can be submitted online by completing the Town Council’s nomination form at:

For those who prefer to nominate in person, paper nomination forms are available from Sarah Brisco House, the Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council offices.

All nominations must be submitted by midday on Friday, 30 January 2026.
