A Newtown based mental health charity that has been providing vital support for young people locally is expanding its reach into Welshpool.
Rekindle, which has its base in Newtown, will begin running new weekly services in Welshpool from September, strengthening the support network it already provides in the town and across Powys.
From Tuesday 2 September, a new Hub activity group will take place every week at The Feathers, Howel Road, Welshpool, between 1pm and 4pm. The free sessions will offer a safe and welcoming space for young people to meet, take part in activities, and build friendships in a supportive environment.
Alongside this, Rekindle will also begin offering weekly wellbeing support and counselling at the Welshpool Integrated Family Centre. The move marks an expansion of its existing in-person provision in Newtown, where it has been running support services for several years, as well as its remote sessions across the county.
Fleur Thompson, Service Delivery Manager at Rekindle, said the new services would build on the charity’s strong foundation in Newtown: “We’re thrilled to bring Rekindle’s services to Welshpool, and we are so grateful to The Feathers Association and the Integrated Family Centre for their part in helping this to come to fruition.”
Rekindle’s vision is to ensure young people have ready access to good mental health support across Mid Wales. The Welshpool expansion is seen as a key step in reaching more young people while reinforcing its commitment to Newtown and its surrounding communities.
Anyone wishing to attend the sessions must complete a registration form, which can be completed online at www.rekindle.org.uk or by calling 01686 722222.
