The main A483 between Newtown and Welshpool re-opened this evening after a car broke down during the heavy rain and flooding.
And despite the easing rain, there are warnings for motorists to take extra care tonight and tomorrow, with flooding continuing and water saturating roads.
More than 16 hours of rain has relentlessly fallen since last night, and is expected to continue into the evening before stopping by around midnight, meaning we could still be facing problems in the morning.
River levels are expected to continue to rise overnight following this afternoon's torrential downpours which saw localised flooding around Newtown.
Police have warned motorists to take extra care on the roads, although tomorrow is forecast to be a dryer day.
