Kicking Off Christmas event to be extended into High Street

Newtown's annual Christmas lights switch on event will be expanded into the town centre, town councillors have been told.

Kicking Off Christmas takes place each year, normally at the end of November, and Newtown Town Council has confirmed plans are well in hand for this year's event.

Members of the full council were told this week that the event would be extended from the Town Hall Grounds into High Street.

Cllr Richard Edwards said this would ensure businesses in the town were involved more.

It is understood the event will once again include a festive parade with events, including music, entertainment, and food, all available in the Town Hall Grounds and High Street for the lights switch on.
