Train strikes tree on line

Delays can be expected this evening on the Cambrian Railway between Newtown and Welshpool after it was confirmed that services have come to a standstill after a train struck a tree.

Transport for Wales confirmed that a replacement bus service is being put into place, but readers have told us they are stuck on the train between Welshpool and Newtown.

It is not thought to have been serious, and there is no word of anyone being injured, but one reader on board said that “we are awaiting a maintenance crew” following the incident this afternoon.
