Improving road crossings for pedestrian in key parts of Newtown will form part of a project announced by Newtown Town Council.

The Road Crossing Improvement Project will examine key areas on Canal Road, Milford Road, and Llanllwchaiarn, where improvements are needed for pedestrians.
The council said it will be working with Powys County Council to examine ways to improve crossing the road in the three areas.
Cllr Jackie Molloy-Davis and Cllr Pete Lewington will lead the project working with the Town Clerk and other officers.
"The core vision of PP ST3 is to use community evidence, documented in the Place Plan, to advocate for substantial improvements to road crossing facilities in the specified areas of the community," said a statement.
"One of the roles of a local council is to influence others. This project sees the town council in that influencing role, and underscores your town council’s commitment to prioritising the safety and well-being of your community. We are eager to collaborate with residents and Powys County Council to bring about meaningful improvements to our road crossing facilities."
