Rhys Edkins took the Silver Division at the J.T. Hughes September medal with an excellent score of four under par 66 at St Giles Golf Club.
Edkins finished ahead of Alan Williams in second at the expense of Gary Stephens after both players carded one under par 69.
Gary Kruger took the Bronze Division with a one over par 71, whilst Andrew Stanley finished in second place with 75 and Daz Ballantyne took third place with 77.
The Seniors Medal was superbly won by David Bebb who carded a majestic five under par 65 to claim the top prize. A card playoff was required to determine the runner-up which went to David Griffith at the expense of Winston Howells after both veterans recorded two under par 68.
Edkins carried on his fine form by winning the first Turkey Trail event of the winter with a five under par 65 to ‘bag the bird’. Callum Lovell finished second a shot further back whilst Brian Arthur took third place with 70.
Not to be outdone by his son, Gary Edkins partnered by Jonny Smout claimed the four ball better ball Turkey Trail event with an incredible 45 points. Second went to the pairing of John Williams and Jonny Smout Senior with 44 whilst Edkins and Alan Williams finished third with 43 points.
Sheila Porter won the ladies GUW medal with a fine one under par 71 for a four shot winning margin from the runner-up, Pam Lewis who posted 75 whilst Barbara Reece finished in third place with 82.
The Turkey Trail continues this weekend with a 2-man Texas Scramble with tee-off times on Saturday at 9am and 1pm and on Sunday at 10am.
Meanwhile, Lakeside's nine-hole Winter League is underway and in summer like conditions club captain Joe Davies (6) came out triumphant in both the net and gross leagues with 19 points and 17 points respectively for round one.
Runners up in the net league were Jane Rix (28) and Mark Wells (19) who both had 19 points but were beaten on the countback by Joe.
The second round of winter League matches proved tight with the top three needing the countback to decide the places after all three scored 19 points.
Mick Higgins (16) came out on top, with Brendan Weaver (11) second and David Hedge (15) third. Weaver made up for the disappointment of finishing second in the net by taking the gross honours with 15 points.
Lakeside hosted a foursomes event for members in early October and clear winners on the day were Luke Gethin and Daryl Griffiths with an outstanding 43 points.
Second was Seniors captain Dave Harding with his playing partner Mark Haycock with 39 points and third also with 39 points but losing out on runners up spot on countback was Kev Lloyd and Andy Wyatt.
Friday, October 30 will see night golf return to Lakeside and an entry sheet is on display in the clubhouse.
