Strong mid-order batting saw Montgomery through to 186-6 which was enough for victory in Division Two against struggling Much Wenlock.

Aaron Ruff-Cock (48), Keith Griffiths (35no) and Ieuan Griffiths (32) led the way before Sam Williams took centre stage, picking up 7-52 from 15 overs to dismiss the visitors for 159.

Knockin and Kinnerley jumped above Newtown in Division One mid table following a six wicket win.

Newtown set a decent target of 215 with Steve Davis (67), Tom Goodwin (43) and Sam Cooke (42) in the runs. But an unbeaten 123 from Steve Gray saw the Shropshire side home with just four wickets lost in the 45th over.

But it was a disappointing day for Welshpool who were on the wrong end of a draw against bottom side Prees in Division Two.

The strugglers made 156-7 despite the best efforts of Rob Pengelly (3-28) but Welshpool disappointed with the bat, ending on 112-8 thanks largely to Don Chodecki.

Guilsfield are in Division Four relegation trouble after suffering a heavy defeat at title chasing Trysull and Seisden who made a whopping 247-2, despite losing two early wickets. Guilsfield’s response ended on 95.

In the reserve divisions, Welshpool II chased down Forton’s 159 with openers Nick Davis (92no) and Russell Cadwallader (60no) carrying their bats through to victory.
