Newtown car salesman Chris Venables became the 25th player to reach a century of Welsh Premier goals when he scored in Friday night's game against Gap Connah's Quay at the Deeside Stadium.

The 29-year-old former Shrewsbury Town youth has scored 44 of his goals in the past two seasons since playing in a more forward role for Aberystwyth Town.

A Welsh Under-23 semi-professional international, Venables spent four seasons with Caersws after signing in 2003/4, switching to Welshpool Town in June 2007.

After a 12-month stint at Aberystwyth Town, he moved on to Llanelli 12 months later but, following four seasons with the Reds, returned to Park Avenue in January 2013.

He has since discovered a rich vein of goal scoring form, winning the league's Golden Boot award last season with 24 goals, and has already notched 21 this season from 17 games.

Venables is Sales Manager at Arthur's Vauxhall Garage at Newtown.
