Now Oswell quits Newtown

Newtown's Welsh Premier Golden Boot winner Jason Oswell has left the club after agreeing terms with Stockport County in National League North.

It is another close season blow for the Robins, who lost skipper Shane Sutton to AFC Telford United recently.

Northwich-born Oswell, 24, began his career at Crewe Alexandra, turning professional in May 2011 and had loan spells with Market Drayton, Nantwich Town and Rhyl before making his debut in the Scottish Premier League with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Released in January 2013, he rejoined Nantwich and had a few months with Australian club APIA Leichhardt Tigers before returning to Rhyl in September 2013.

Oswell then joined Airbus UK Broughton the following January but was released four months later after being unable to break into the first team, and signed for Newtown in June 2014.

In all, he has notched 54 goals from his 101 (+9) WPL appearnces and also scored Newtown's last-minute home leg winner against Valletta in the Europa League and the opening goal in the away tie. He was awarded WPL player of the season at last month's annual awards.
