Three of Newtown FC’s longest serving volunteers have been honoured for their service to the club.
John Bowen, John Lloyd and Mike Harding all travelled to Newport to collect awards from the Dafabet Welsh Premier League for service to the club.
Owen Durbridge, club secretary was alongside them, and paid tribute for the work the trio have done for the Robins.
John Bowen is in charge of all maintenance and has worked for the club for over 40 years.
Owen said: "At 75 years of age, he is still indispensable at Latham Park. He undertakes repairs that crop up, and recently did a full re-fit of the disabled and outside toilet.
“He works closely with John Lloyd keeping the ground in good shape, and is part of a group who attend the ground most mornings, and is also a steward.
“John Lloyd has given the club 25 years of service, and is a steward in charge of car parking, and diverts the traffic on busy days at Latham Park.
"Despite being 75, John undertakes all the difficult grass cutting jobs on the banks adjacent to Trehafren Hill.
“Mike Harding. 72, has helped the club for 45 years, and has been involved with the financial side of the club. Previously a treasurer and secretary, he still assists part of the finance team, and helps the office manager with accounts and banking.
“Over the years Mike assisted his brother Keith in running the club, and until a few years ago was liaising with the manager and chairman on player payments.
"He has an incredible memory for the people who have played at the club, and those who have helped run it."
