Rock-bottom Newtown take on runaway Dafabet Welsh Premier League leaders The New Saints on Sunday with manager Chris Hughes calling for his Robins to stand up and be counted.
Newtown face a stiff task at Park Hall but Hughe said: “We’ve spoken to the players now and they’ve got to stand up and be counted, stick their chests out, stand up for themselves and stand up for this football club.”
The defeat leaves Hughes’ side with just one win in the opening ten league games but he has vowed his squad will be working hard to turn things around, with TNS next up.
“At the moment every little mistake we are getting punished for. It isn’t a position I or the players want to be in and we will be working hard to turn it around.
“They’re an honest bunch, and know they are below standards individually and as a group, and we’ll be working hard to turn it around.
