A 26½ acre block of Welsh border grassland at Churchstoke sold for £235,000, £9,000 per acre, at a public auction on Monday night.

The grassland, suitable for grazing farm livestock and horses, was sold by auctioneers Halls on behalf of Pat and Rosemary Morris at The Three Tuns, Bishops Castle.

The land, which has a natural water supply from a stream, is situated in an area renowned for its heavy stocking capabilities and had, in recent years, been used for mowing for grass conservation.

Auctioneer Peter Willcock, chairman of Halls, said the auction attracted a lot of interest from local farmers, which demonstrated continued confidence in the land market.
