Air Ambulance, road closures amidst Llanfair commotion

It was a morning of town centre chaos in Llanfair Caereinion yesterday (Tuesday) with two road closures and an accident requiring the Wales Air Ambulance helicopter from Cardiff.

Watergate Street is expected to be closed all week to allow Scottish Power to repair a faulty cable to prevent a loss of supply, while Mount Road is also restricted due to more work.

But this morning, emergency services were called to the scene of an accident shortly after 6am with fire crews administering lifesaving CPR after a car struck a parked vehicle on Bridge Street.

“Crew members administered CPR to the vehicle’s one occupant and utilised a defibrillator,” a spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire & Rescue Service said: “The casualty was then conveyed to hospital by Air Ambulance.

“This incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police, the Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance also in attendance. The road was closed while the incident was ongoing.”

The road reopened at around 11am.

A spokesperson for Llanfair Caereinion Town Council said: “There was an accident in Bridge street this morning and the emergency services attended. We are also aware of emergency works by the electric companies which has caused some temporary road closures.”
