Railway consultation to hold public meetings

30/09/2015 @ 12:58

A consultation into the use of the Cambrian Railway in Newtown and Caersws is to hold public meetings in each community next week.

Last week MyNewtown reported how the Shrewsbury-Aberystwyth Rail Liaison Committee would be seeking the views of rail passengers on how the new hourly timetable along the line since May was working.

The group also wants to know about how improvements can be made, including at Newtown and Caersws railway stations.

“We now need views on how it is going, where we go from here and what are the needs of Newtown and Caersws stations to support this,” said Robert Robinson of the rail group.

The feedback will be used to provide advice and information to the Welsh Government as well as Railtrack and Arriva Trains Wales.

The first public meeting will be held at The Elephant and Castle in Newtown on Monday, 5th October at 7.30pm.

A second meeting will be held at Caersws Village Hall on Monday, 12th October at 7.30pm.

Anyone wanting more information about the consultation and meetings can telephone 01938 553142.
